Dan Baker
Dan Baker serves as the minister of music at First Baptist Church in Amarillo. Before coming to Amarillo, he served in churches in Mesquite and Saginaw, TX. A “choir-man” at heart, Dan has sung as a soloist and choir member with several choirs in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area – The Dallas Bach Society, Texas Baroque Ensemble, The Dallas Vocal Artists, The Allegro Artists, and Christian vocal ensemble, One Voice. Before his days in full-time ministry, Dan enjoyed success as full-time choral director in the Garland public school system, winning many choral competitions and doing well in UIL choral contests. In his younger days, Dan performed in small musical theater and opera venues and still enjoys singing and performing when he can.
His wife, Jodi joins him for this concert on some Broadway selections. Jodi is an accomplished French Horn player, pianist, and singer. She is the K-8 music teacher at San Jacinto Christian School and also directs the Young Musicians choir at First Baptist. The Bakers have three children – Sarah – 15, Hannah – 12, and Jonathan – 10.
Dan will perform "Songs from the Garden" which includes songs that have garden/nature themes or settings. Includng English, French and German art song, selections from Broadway's Secret Garden, and Sacred Songs.
