VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Interested in Volunteering? Here's What to Expect

1/1

Volunteers are needed throughout the Gardens in a variety of areas:

EDUCATION

Educational volunteers will lead tours, help develop youth educational programs, teach classes and provide other classroom assistance. This opportunity is great for retired teachers or those who love children.

GARDEN DOCENTS

ABG docents will lead visitor tours, answer questions and share insight about the Gardens. Volunteers should be energetic, enthusiastic and comfortable speaking to groups. Training and tour materials will be provided.

HORTICULTURE

Both indoor and outdoor opportunities are available. Volunteers should be prepared for physical activity including kneeling, bending, lifting, etc. Conservatory care includes pruning, watering, mulching and sweeping. Outdoor grounds maintenance includes seeding, mulching, planting, etc. or helping with repotting in the greenhouse.

ADMISSION BOOTH

Help us make a great first impression. Greet visitors, assist with questions, offer directions and accept tickets. Must enjoy working with the public.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

Administrative volunteers assist with general office tasks, answer phones, greet the public, etc.

TRADE

Volunteers are needed to work on lights, help with general maintenance jobs or to provide other needed services such as carpentry or painting.

Do I need specific skills to volunteer?

Whether you are a master or beginning gardener, a professional or a homemaker, retired or employed, we can put your skills and talents to good use! We offer on-site training and guidance or you may be able to contribute your specialized training to one of our jobs

What do we do and why do we do it?

Amarillo Botanical Garden’s 4.4 acres provides a beautiful oasis with a variety of gardens created to accentuate the seasons with different flowers and plants. Volunteers help us keep the grounds maintained and plants vibrant so area residents can enjoy an Oasis on the Plains year-round.

Is there a time commitment to volunteer?

We have opportunities with flexible, limited time needs that may be just what you are looking for.

Is there an age restriction to volunteer?

Students 18+ to seniors are welcome. We have a variety of tasks available for most age and physical capabilities.

We have flexible day, evening and weekend opportunities available all year round.

How do I sign up to volunteer?

Simply email us at info@abgardens.org and tell us what area you are interested in volunteering in. We'll work with your schedule to find the perfect fit!
